Jonathan Seliger is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY, and Columbia County, NY. Over the past 25 years, he has exhibited extensively in both solo and group exhibitions worldwide. His work has been featured in numerous commercial galleries, museums, and non-profit institutions, earning a place in many prominent public and private collections. With more than 30 solo shows to his name, Seliger has established himself as a significant figure in contemporary art.
Seliger’s practice encompasses painted bronze, a variety of metals, painted canvas constructions, works on paper, and large-scale outdoor metal commissions. His sculptures range in scale from handheld objects to monumental installations. Drawing from the traditions of Pop Art, Minimalism, Conceptual Art, and Trompe L’Oeil, he transforms everyday commercial packaging—such as haute couture shopping bags, milk cartons, juice boxes, and Chinese takeout containers—into meticulously crafted artworks. Inspired by ephemera and contemporary visual culture, Seliger finds poetry in the intersection of the desirable, the disposable, and the familiar.
