Laurence Jenkell presents "Candy Nations" on Broadway, NYC

French contemporary sculptor Laurence Jenkell unveiled 20 monumental colorful candies lining New York's Broadway's pedestrian plazas from 36th to 39th streets.

On October 3rd, the Garment District of New York City, the heart of international fashion, unveiled a public exhibit Laurence Jenkell’s iconic Flag Candies along Broadway in celebration of New York City’s status as a global capital of the world.

The installation “Candy Nations” consists of 20 9-ft tall sculptures, each weighing 1,450 pounds and wrapped in the colors of 20 countries: Japan, Mexico, the U.S.A., Australia, Brazil, Canada, South Korea, Argentina, South Africa, Germany, France, Great Britain, India, Italy, Indonesia, China, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia; and even the European Union.

Through this exhibition, Laurence Jenkell wishes to convey an “optimistic message of unity that lies beneath our external differences.

The exhibition is an event open to the public, located on Broadway between 36th and 39th Street.

The sculptures will remain in place through December 9th, 2018.
