André has explored various media such as mosaic, collage and acrylics He focuses primarily on portraits: blending collages of old newspapers and books, painting and varnishing. His signature conceptual assemblage of text texture and color exudes eccentricity and empowerment, exemplifying the characters and paying homage to some of the most popular icons. The strong contrast between light and shadow unveil a dramatic expressiveness written all over the faces of his muses.

When we asked where he draws inspiration from, the artist noted “everywhere I travel, I pick up new but mostly old books which become the backgrounds of my painting. The collage in the background – postcards from my travels”.

The features of his subjects are recreated with such precision that one might surprisingly see a realistic photography arising from a distance.
